I would like to get some penny rolls or a bag to search and I just wanted to ask a question.

Approx how many pennies are in a pound?
Approx how much does a pound go for or what's a fair price for a roll of pennies?

Is a bank the best place to go to?

For the two timer types :smile= what is better pennies or dimes? Care to elaborate? much appreciate it :hail:

is this wrong or it is spot on?

here's the link I got it from searching google...

(One penny has a weight of 3.11 grams
    Composition .950 copper.
    One gram = 0.03527 0z.

    1,000 pennies = $10.00
    1,000 pennies = 6.5128 pounds copper

BTW 138.5727 pennies are required to extract one pound of pure copper.)

Alrighty then, now I know a little bit. All I gotta do now is find a bank in my area that will be so kind as to cooperate with me and my requests. Not an easy thing to find in my parts. :)

Most banks will "sell" you a box of cents. I get them all the time to search. Found at 1999 WAM just last night that's worth about $150.

I would question it as I think the original Penny from Europe was a different composition. ;)

I would also question this for the Cent as we have changed compositions with the amount of copper a couple of times.

    I'm sorry, I'm a novice, but what is a 1999 WAM?

I never knew that. Now I have to go through the rolls of pennies I just got from the bank again.

Thanks for the info and the welcome.
