I would like to get some penny rolls or a bag to search and I just wanted to ask a question. Approx how many pennies are in a pound? Approx how much does a pound go for or what's a fair price for a roll of pennies? Is a bank the best place to go to? For the two timer types :smile= what is better pennies or dimes? Care to elaborate? much appreciate it :hail:
just buy rolls and last I knew rolls sold for $.50 a roll or face value... but if you want to spend more I can sell them to you for a buck each
My experience In pennies you get a lot of copper some wheat some rainbow some junk and some gem Red ones. Dimes I get some nice clad some silver and rarely Mercury. Nickels Some wartime some proof some Western Journey Quarters State quarters(I keep I dont know why) some bicenntenials And junk
is this wrong or it is spot on? here's the link I got it from searching google... http://www.godlikeproductions.com/forum1/message235700/pg1 (One penny has a weight of 3.11 grams Composition .950 copper. One gram = 0.03527 0z. 1,000 pennies = $10.00 1,000 pennies = 6.5128 pounds copper BTW 138.5727 pennies are required to extract one pound of pure copper.)
Alrighty then, now I know a little bit. All I gotta do now is find a bank in my area that will be so kind as to cooperate with me and my requests. Not an easy thing to find in my parts.
Most banks will "sell" you a box of cents. I get them all the time to search. Found at 1999 WAM just last night that's worth about $150.
:kewl: good info, sounds like the way to go for me. Now I gotta do a search on WAM. The learning just goes on and on!! thx
I would question it as I think the original Penny from Europe was a different composition. I would also question this for the Cent as we have changed compositions with the amount of copper a couple of times.
See how easy it is Carol, here you go... http://www.lincolncentresource.com/wideams.html And by the way welcome.
I never knew that. Now I have to go through the rolls of pennies I just got from the bank again. Thanks for the info and the welcome. Carol
Save that link Carol, and don't forget to look for all the other errors and varieties listed there and read up all you can, you'll be cherrypicking cents in no time. :high5:
I already saved that link and I will be going through my pennies this weekend. I knew I came to the right place when I joined here. Thanks again. Carol
