Penny, not copper?

    Hi, I have 1996 penny looks like strike to nickel metal (still same dimension as cent) instead of copper. Is this common or rare?

    Sorry, but it was plated by someone after it left the mint. Not a mint error

    I agree.. Plated
    But it's only a Copper Plated Zinc Cent underneath whatever plating was used.
