As for the OP that cent can't be spent. I take all my damaged coins from metal detecting at the end of the year and give them to my credit union, who sends them in as mutilated coins, and I get a full credit. I asked them if they send in bent up destroyed coins, the way they send back worn out bills for replacement. And they said yes they would take them. As for the post above me, the D is not in the wrong place. The D is hand punched into the dies. They use many dies so some D's are not going to be exactly centered under the date. Also, very often a circulated coin can take a "hit" and the mint mark can get broken, even move slightly. It's damage, it's not worth anything.
