Here's a pic I took a number of years ago of something that certainly made me very cheerful when it happened:

My daughter went with my husband to stores today. In exchange for a new paint set she swore she would eat more vegetables. She even picked out spinach and kale to prove it.

We get her to try one piece and hear the usual "I don't like it, it's yucky!" The struggle continues :)

I liked spinach as a kid. Even without Popeye’s propaganda. Kale was another story, and I’m still not a big fan of that. Maybe if you cooked it until it surrendered...

When we lived aboard a sailboat in the Bahamas when I was around ten (I had a rather colorful gypsy childhood), my mother sprouted alfalfa sprouts and made us eat a cup full of them every day.

I hated them. I’d hide them in my pockets and when I went abovedecks, I’d throw them overboard. The gulls would swoop a time or two, but even they wouldn’t eat them. When you’ve got a food that seagulls reject, you’ve got something truly nasty!

To this day, if I get even a single alfalfa sprout in a salad or sandwich, I can taste it immediately. If there’s more than one, I’ll gag.

Some foods I disliked as a kid (mushrooms, shrimp) I really like, now.

Others (fish, alfalfa sprouts, liver) I still don’t like.

I wasn't sure about this one. But after @Nyatii and @Wizank 's posts, I thought what the heck. My older sister texted it to me.

Since the snow came all the wife has done is look through the window . . . If it gets any worse, I'll have to let her in.

Besides collecting, I also have a hobby around this season of painting Christmas ornaments on egg shells (insides removed). This one is "Santa's Second Cookie."

Good luck with your procedure Rob. No flirting with the nurses using the excuse of anesthesia ;) Just own it! :)

It'll be my third round of vein surgery in this one leg. The other leg gets its third procedure two weeks later, on my birthday, 12/28. Ugh. So I'll be a bit gimpy for a day or three, and bandaged, and wearing those horrible pressure socks.

But no worries- I didn't flirt with the nurses the last two times, though one or two of them were a tad flirtworthy, perhaps. ;)

*Hey, y'never know- one of 'em might be into fat, farty, fiftysomething dudes.

... who are married and semi-broke and own a beat-up old car and fourteen cats, right?

    Right?

    What?

    No?

    Aww, bummer.

The first time, I did get a little bit high on the anesthesia, though I've been fully awake through the whole thing each time.

What was funny and oh-so-appropriate was that Bob Marley's "Three Little Birds" was playing in the room where they were dissecting me.

Take a good listen to the lyrics, and you'll see why it is the perfect song to have playing in a room where you're operating on someone!

I went home singing it out loud, as if I were some happy drunk.

    I guess I was, in a way.

Of course Bobby McFerrin's classic would always be a good choice, too.

Maybe dentists should take note of this.

Wait, wait... those dance moves... holy cow! Is that a younger Robin Williams in that video?!? I never knew!

Now that does make me happy... and a little bit sad, too. RIP, Robin. I wish you’d taken Bobby’s advice.

@lordmarcovan hope the surgery (even a small one is still a surgery) will go on well and you will be OK
