Penny Lincoln 1986

    Hi,

    Do you know if it is a die error or corosion who cause this type of crack. 1989 Coin.

    I'm no error coin expert but if it wasn't done by someone after mintage, I'd say it looks somewhat like a die clash but once again, i'm not an expert by any means.

    The verticle marks are die polish the area close to the rim

    The verticle marks (close to the head) are die polish the area close to the rim is a common form of surface plating type break - I suspect to much pressure or planchet to thin, to thick - whatever it's very common.
