Penny errors ?? Never seen one like it.

    Acid dipped.. It erroded the image and letters..
    Not a mint error.

    Could also be years of errosion due to tumbling in a rocky river or rocky beach. I have found similiar coins when metal detecting.

    Could be a faint strike mint mark.
    Mint marks were hand punched into the Obverse Die in the during that time.
