I came across this penny today. The obverse feeks smooth but with a slight waffle feel to it. It is the same diameter as a regular penny but slightly thinner. I have seen this identified as an Adjustment Strike, but those did not have the waffle look or them. Any input would be appreciated.

Looks like a capped die. Nice find.

thank you for the answers. I have seen some for sale for several hundred dollars, but do not know what they eventually sell for. Does anyone have any ideas to the value of it? I do this because I love doing it, but want to sell some things and not keep them as part of my collection. :)

As others have stated it is a nice example of a brockage struck by a capped die. I don't know the value but I feel sure it is considerably less than several hundred dollars. What might be worth several hundred dollars is the actual capped die that struck your coin.
