This date was the last of the Draped Bust large cents. It is marked by some rather famous varieties including two types of overdates, small (scarce) and large (fairly common), the “comet variety” which has a wide die break across the obverse, behind Ms. Liberty’s head, and the large and small fractions. As a date, it is common.

The mintage reported in The Red Book is 829,221. The Breen die variety book reports it a 727,221 with some of those pieces bearing earlier dates.

This 1807 cent is Sheldon variety #276. Large cent collectors believe that it is the most common Sheldon variety of all. PCGS graded this piece EF-45. Given the fame of the overdate and the “comet variety,” this piece is rather plain in comparison to those cents.
