I didn't open your link, but the firm that it links to is known to sell overpriced junk., so I'm gonna agree with mikjo0's "nope".
well, after looking at the link, I'm going to have to change my answer to something a little stronger than just "nope", since that doesn't adequately convey how huge of a scam that price is. Here's why: a pound of wheats is about 135 coins. They want $35 for those 135 coins. You should be able to buy bags of wheat cent for $185. That is a 5000 coin bag! That works out to a real world value of about 2.7¢ apiece when properly priced. The NCM price works out to 25.9¢ apiece or 9.5 times as much as the coins are worth. In short, if you are willing to pay ten times what something is worth then go for it, otherwise, just pass.
This is getting scary. The_Cave_Troll has agreed with me in a couple of threads, and now I'm agreeing with him! He's right about that outfit's pricing, but I have a much stronger reason for refusing to deal with them. These are the ghouls who created some phoney-baloney pieces claiming to contain World Trade Center bullion, in order to profit from 9/11.
I just added to cart and found there is also a 4 dollar shipping charge. Total 38.50. Heck, Shipping is more than the value.
Good point, Cave Troll. My favorite local dealer sells mixed wheat cents for 3 cents each, and buys them back for 2 cents each. My wife collects wheaties, every great once in a while we pick up a 5000 coin bag and search through them on the dining room table. We never find a 1909 S VDB or a 1955 double die or anything, but it is still fun. If someone wants wheaties I suggest asking around at local coin shops. If you try to buy a bag through the mail, even from a reputable dealer, I imagine the shipping costs would be pretty high. Pennies can get heavy. :smile
Hi, Its been said, about 135 wheat cents per pound, less than 3 rolls, should be about $6.00 tops. Its a rip off, In fact dealers usually only pay 2 cents a piece for wheats so in essence, they are worth less than $3.00. Rip off!! have Fun, Bill
