I was watching Coin Vault on TV And they have a roll (20) of 1922 or 1923 Peace Dollars for $299. That's $15 each. They say they are Gem BU. Sounds like a good deal. HAs anyone had experience with their quality, etc?? Thanks
Be Careful with TV Coin Shows! I think most CoinTalkers here will agree that TV coin shows are most often much higher and sometimes of lesser quality with their merchandise, than say you could obtain from a reputable dealer or maybe even from e-bay for the most part. I saw the show hawking those Peace Dollars, and must admit that I was tempted. However, when they say "uncirculated" they usually mean borderline AU sliders or MS 60/61 at best. I have seen MS 63 Peace Dollars at local coin stores for about the same price as those on tv, and they look a lot nicer IMO. But, look around before you take my word as gospel. There are some dealers who post in this forum that know a whole lot more than I do, and maybe some of them will respond to your thread.
Paul Sims INC had "Premium Quality Brilliant Uncirculated" Peace dollars for $244.00 a roll. I was going to get a roll but instead bought just 1 Peace dollar along with a few other coins. The Peace dollar I got had VG detail but had been cleaned. The only coins that hadn't been cleaned were the proofs. I suggest that you don't buy UNC rolls sight-unseen.
Hey Charlie...I suggest that you call Paul Sims...I have gotten coins from him and they are tops...for what I paid for them they were great! Speedy
Speedy, Were the coins you bought circulated or Unc All the coins I bought were supposed to be Uncs and Proofs. I returned all the coins I was disapointed with and got a full refund, but I was suprised that a big dealer like Paul Sims would sell cleaned coins as Uncs.
I got some PF Franklins and some Mint Sets but I was thinking more that I didn't think that Paul Sims would sell cleaned coins...maybe someone there messed up... I'm glad you got your money back. Speedy
As discussed many times in this forum, there's no such thing as a bargin on the TV coin shows, don't trust them.
