Nice strike. Some peace dollars have ugly toning but you got a great one. I like peace dollars a lot and I don't think they are inferior to morgans in any way.

Actually, I think Peace dollars are inferior to Morgans in many ways, one of which it seemed that the Mint just forgot what it took to make silver dollars. That was true of the new Morgan and the Peace Dollars. But that Peace dollar that is in the picture is one of the most perfect and beautiful ones I'd ever seen. I think it was part of a roll.

One the rims I hope. You touch them on the rims with a white cloth glove...
You were never allowed to touch any of the other coins?

What I love about that coin is the full round and perfect feathering of the back of the Eagle. It looks like my Parrot. And the hair around the ear is nearly perfect for this design.

Agreed... well, all except the parrot part, I don't have one and have never seen Ruben's for comparison. It's a beautiful coin and my favorite dollar design as well. Congrats.

I've also got an African grey. She's a lot of fun, but a little ornery sometimes. Now that it's brought up, they do look like the Peace eagle!

    Beautiful coins!

I always carry a 1922 or 1923 Peace dollar with me at all times. Good to have real money in the pocket, even if it's worth more than face.

I think the Peace dollar is underated. IMO it is more beautiful than the Morgan. The Morgan has more of a colorful history than the Peace dollar, so it's worth more, plus most of the coins were minted in the 1800's. Any coin from the 1800's will have more value.

The Peace dollar is only US coin to have the word "peace" on it. The Peace dollar was minted to commemorate the "great peace" to follow WWI, the War to end all Wars. By the way, those coins are MS63 or so, get some in circulated condition to hold. Those should not be touched unless gloved as other posters have said.

The coins from that decade, the Merc dime, standing liberty quarter, walking liberty half and the Peace dollar are the most beautiful set our mint produced. They designs symbolize the values and dreams of that earlier time. Today's coins are dull in comparison.

I never cared for the obverse of the Peace $. Its too blurry, mushy and to put it simply ugly.
I like the eagle on the reverse with the sunrise.:eek:hya:
However, it is a relatively easy series to collect all dates and mintmarks in circulated condition.:smile
