Here's a new PEACE from January. I like the golden toning surrounding the creamy center. I also find the die crack clutched by the eagle's beak fascinating as well. That's another die crack swooping above the date too. I know many collectors don't like this design compared to other U.S. coins, but I'm a fan. I also find amusing the description of the design of Liberty by Cornelius Vermeule in his book Numismatic Art in America: "The obverse is weak, because an element of prettiness permeates the head of Liberty - an emptiness of face, an elaborateness of hair, and an overall glossiness that adds up to nothing beyond the thick rays, the meaningless locks out behind, and a vapid lower jaw." Cutting commentary!
