I am just kind of irritated right now with the PCGS grading service turnaround time. I have an order status showing that they received my coins (11) total three weeks ago. The return shipping date shows: N/A. I would be fine with it if these submissions were for me only, but some of the coins are for other CT members, as well as a coin for a close friend. How does the turnaround time compare to NGC?
It's tough to be biased either way because it is what it is on any given submission with either company. I'm sure someone has done an in-depth analysis and try to yank your chain in one direction or another. Too many unknown factors involved for me to do that to you. I think you need to be more concerned with which company will offer you the best appraisal for your submission, that has the best re-sale following for the Issue. As always, Dollars & Cents. IMHO
I would imagine a lot would have to do with the volume of submissions on any given time frame, as well as bulk submissions from any individual submitter.
If you were expecting returns in anything less than 30 days you were dreaming. It is not unusual for turn around times to stretch to 60 days and there have been more than a few where they went 90 days - for both companies. But from what I have seen over the years I'd say average return times are between 30 and 60 days.
