I am planning on submitting a few coins to PCGS next week. One of them I would like to have TrueViewed. It looks like I'm going to just miss the quarterly grading special, which is 50% off the TrueView service. When I was looking at the details, apparently the $20 it will cost only gets you a standard size picture 550x278 pixels. For an extra $25 they can give you the full 4400x2220 image on CD. Seriously? If you are paying $20 for them to take a digital picture, why would they charge extra for the full image? Also, why do they have to send it on CD, why couldn't I just download it? Have any of you payed for the full image before? Is it really nice? How does it compare with the standard one? Does the TrueView service add any time to the turnaround of the coins, I don't remember seeing whether it does or not?

I'm not sure where you are getting your information from, but it's incorrect.

When you get a coin TrueViewed, they give you six different sizes you can download, the largest being nearly 6000 x 3000 pixels.

Here is an example of a coin I recently had TrueViewed so you can see the various sizes:

You should add 5 days to the estimated turnaround time when you request a TV photo.

Oh, ok, thats good news. I was going by this http://www.pcgs.com/trueview/. So did you just pay the regular $20 (or $10 if you took advantage of the 50% off special) fee for that coin to get all of those resolutions WingedLiberty?

    "Retrieval
The standard size for all all TrueView images is 550 pixels by 278 pixels and are under 100kb in size, perfect for eBay and the PCGS Set Registry. However, crisp large-scale photos that are 4400 pixels by 2220 pixels are also available to any TrueView customer on CD (or DVD depending on volume) for a small fee. These large scale images are perfect for beautiful prints and for numismatic study.

Please follow the link below to start the submission process. Photo service options will be available to you on the submission form. If you would like to purchase a CD of large images of your coins please add on an additional $25."

I was assuming that they were not going to charge $25 for a CD if you could just download it, but I guess not. Or, maybe that page is out-of-date.

I got this in during the special ... so all those sizes cost me just the single fee of $10. After March 31st it goes back to the regular price of $20.

Don't forget that the TrueView fee is in addition to all of the other fees PCGS charges. You must also pay for a service level on each coin (either grading, regrade or reholder), plus the $8 handling fee for the order, plus return shipping.

Sending a couple orders out today that'll include a few TrueView photos for $10/each. $10/each was the normal TrueView price for many years until they recently raised it to $20 per coin... so this current quarterly special isn't really that "special" in my opinion... but I have a couple of toners that I just can't image well and I needed them graded anyways, so might as well get them imaged while it's 50% off :)

For a long time they were $5 but they claimed they didn't do them. But if you wrote it in on your invoice and included the $5 you would get them.
