A dealer has two Morgans, both are in PCGS plastic except the plastic only says PCGS, the date, and a non-numeric grade (in these cases brilliant unc.) with no serial number listed. What is this slab? Are these real? Thanks.

I think they are slabs that PCGS did for one of the TV shopping networks.

Sounds like sample slabs to me.

The slabs were done for Coin Vault as part of a deal to cut costs for grading and PCGS agreed to only assign a grade classification and not a numerical grade. Instaed of the normal three graders viewing the coin only one grader viewed the coin and just classified the grade and not a numerical grade.
