I know that you cannot submit world coins and US coins together on the same form. But I was wondering if anyone knew if they could be shipped to PCGS together? I imagine so - if they're in the same box, but bundled separately with separate forms, I can't see how they wouldn't be accepted.
Part 2 - is there a way to pay for combined return shipping to you, or will PCGS ship them back to you separately no matter what?

    Thanks in advance!

Can I send multiple orders in the same box to PCGS?

Yes. You may send us more than one submission at a time in the same box. If you do this, be sure each individual order has its own submission form and method of payment. To assist with turnaround times, clearly notate the fastest service level on the outside of your package.
Note: We are unable to combine orders for return shipment.

...so yes you can ship them there together (as long as you fill out separate forms) and no they can't combine the return shipping.

Thanks! I knew I read about it somewhere, but couldn't find it. I was looking on the submission guidelines page.

I would not combine them, but always send two parcels. I think shipping a large number of coins in a single box is too risky, even with tracking and insurance.

I’ve done it many times with no problems. For each order, wrap the coins and form with packing material (bubble wrap, foam, paper, etc.) and secure with rubber bands. Place all the bundles in a box with additional packing. Not required, but put a note stating the number of packages on top before closing the box. Use insurance! Some private insurance companies require double boxing.

Each order is shipped back separately with a charge for each. I think main reason for this is that the orders are processed separately at different speeds, and they like to get the coins out of their possession ASAP.

Risk of loss or damage is proportional to the number of packages … twice as many packages, twice the risk. OTOH, if there is loss or damage to a single package out of two, the hassle and potential monetary loss is less than if all the coins were in the one package. So, it probably evens out either way. Main thing is to always insure.

Do you ship registered mail? I've only sent in submissions once, and used registered mail like they ask on the PCGS site.

For PCGS, I use either FedEx or USPS. There are different delivery addresses for each that are on the PCGS website. Main advantage of FedEx is I can hand package to a driver or drop it at the store which has much broader hours than the PO. For USPS, I use priority mail for less valuable lots, registered mail for more valuable lots. I use private insurance only. After I pay the annual fee, it’s cheaper per package than USPS insurance, and I have a choice of carrier and choice of method within carrier (overnight, 2-day, ground, etc.). Another advantage of private insurance is that I write a big, fat zero for value on the carrier paperwork or website … much less attractive to thieves. Also, there will never be an argument as to whether the contents are cash (not covered by USPS insurance) or a collectible. The private insurance company knows that it’s coins.

I did a thread on using registered mail a few years ago. The link is below. Possible some things have changed, so, check usps.com.
