The site says it's available to any coin in a PCGS holder. How does this work with a Details coin (specifically Quest Color)? Can I add my own minimum grade?

Let's make this more fun and add this: Is it possible to pay for two TrueView's - one before and one after a PCGS Restoration? Seems like that would be a great way to showcase its value.

Agreed, it would be very interesting, assuming it is a success. But just for their own internal reasons, I would bet they take high quality before and after photos of all coins getting Conservation.

This way, though, You could see the results yourself and share publically.

Any idea on the PCGS Reconsideration?

RECONSIDERATION: Use the Reconsideration service if you would like to have your coin regraded without being removed from its current holder. Minimum grades are not allowed. There are four Reconsideration service options (only one options is allowed per submission). Learn More.

Sure seems like you could submit Details coins to me:

Still, you could call or email and ask.

I emailed them. I can't find where it says no minimum grade is allowed - but it seems like that is exactly what I'm doing when I select a minimum upgrade preference for a Details coin.

Search for "reconsideration" on that page and you will find the bit @geekpryde quoted above.

If you want to submit for a minimum grade, why not crack it out and submit it raw? I mean, it can't come back worse than "details," can it? Worst case is it comes back without a holder (and maybe that's a consideration for you, but I don't think a details holder is worth anything).

If a coin is already in a Genuine slab you may as well save your money for they will rarely change their mind.

Now cracking it out and sending it again - different story depending on what the problem designation is. Some of them, it's a toss up as to which way it will go. They are well known for rejecting a coin on 1 submission, and slabbing it on the next. Also known for slabbing/grading a coin and if cracked and resubmitted, rejecting it that time.
