Looks like i'm 0/2 with teletrade so far. I bought a czech 250th aniversery of the lighting rod coin. I just got it in the mail today, and it has a rim ding.

The coin is slabbed PCGS PR69DCAM but when you look at the photos it has a piece of the rim smashed.

The only way i can see this getting through PCGS is if it happened when the coin was being slabbed. Any other ideas?

I meant to update this sooner but couldn't find the thread. After further inspection of this coin. The issue shown in the picture is the rubber grommet surrounding the coin being smashed. I'll try to post another angle. Has anyone seen issues like this before?

Yes, it is quite common. I gotta tell you though, that picture sure fooled me. :)

Too common for my liking. I think PCGS "got issues" these days with the encapsulation process.

I know of a PCGS slab which came back so loose it squeaked ! The slab wasn't properly sealed around the bottom perimiter.

Expensive coin, too... 1793 S-4 Chain cent VF20.
