I have a bunch of older PCGS slabs with the dot matrix label (purchased in the 80's) . I think these are sometimes referred to as rattlers. In general are these coins more likely to grade higher or lower now if resubmitted. I'm sure it probably depends on the type of coin and grade. I guess my real question is, have the standards been raised or lowered in general ?

I have a broad range from gold to type.

Every coin needs to be evaluated on its own. It may be just as likely that the coin will down grade.

If any of these holders are the doily (sp) holder they themselves bring a premium to some collectors

In many cases, the old style "rattler" holders sell for a premium over current holders, the buyers "think" they will score an up-grade so they fork out more money. Doesn't always work that way, it's a gamble.
