I was told by my seller that this Macedonian coin was made of lead and not bronze. It weighs 22.2 g. Please post any comment.
Exactly, it says Alexandru instead of Alexandrou. What's the diameter, by the way? 22,2 gr. is very heavy for a coin of Alexander.
Well, if it's a forgery and you can't return it, you can always melt it with the rest of the lead to cast musket balls. I don't know if your state has a black powder hunting season, but I'd reckon wild turkey hunting might be as good a use for a forged lead coin as anything else you could do to it. To the northerners here, please forgive my vulgar southern ways
Never mind. We are being used to those wicked counterfeiters who never stop introducing their bad stuff in the market. Personally, I managed to exchange that coin with my seller for many others which I'll be posting soon. Good luck to all of you.
I noticed that among every 20 coins I buy, there's only one fake. I know that's not a little, but this seller agrees to exchange the sold fake or even return my money. I've known many sellers before, and that seller is the best of them. Besides, he sells me by installments.
Is he a knowledgeable seller of Ancients? Or is he just a third party? If he sells these to you and KNOWS he is selling a fake, I would assume he hopes a few will get past you without detection. I have a policy. If a dealer sells me a fake and claims ignorance, I will forgive (but not forget). If I find another fake being sold by this same dealer, he/she has seen the last of me. There are too many good dealers to be stuck with one that is questionable.
