don't use ebay links into paypal, they hide the credit card payment option somehow that way. Open paypal up in a new window and log in normally. you can go into the send money function and identify the ebay listing and all......

    and i agree...CC thru paypal

I use the eBay links and only pay by credit card. The link is on the page where you "commit to payment". Also. if I understood why AJ's claim was denied for his halves, it was because he did jsut what you said to do

CC or Debit Card thru PayPal is best IMO.

Yep ... after a couple of unpleasant ebay transactions that paypal did not help, that's the best way. paypal linked to a credit card. Haven't had an issue since. However, I grew too complacent. I put a bid out on Ebay the other day before I caught the 'no pay pal, check or MO only' note. The seller 'did' offer to retract my bid over that when I asked ~ which I thought was nice of him to do. I hope I didn't make a mistake by leaving my bid in effect. We'll find out ~ won't have to worry about that until I 'WIN' and I've been sniped out of my last 10 bids so I probably won't have to worry about this one either.

Not the credit card option. I would not have a paypal credit card for the simple fact they may not work for you. So once you have a paypal account use a different credit card. I also use the ebay links, but I also remember to review the charges and change the payment option.

However, debit cards do not have the same protection that a credit card has.

Debit cards offer the same protection as credit cards so long as the user selects "credit" and not "debit" when buying something. Here's a clue: if you are asked to enter your PIN number then you're purchase is not protected. Always pay via credit card through Paypal so that in the event of a dispute you can request a chargeback from your credit card issuer. From what I've heard, not all Credit card companies are created equal. In the event of a disputed charge, here are the best companies to turn to as the purchaser in order of likelihood of a favorable decision:
AMEX (always rules in favor of cardmember)
VISA (usually rules in favor of cardmember and permits appeals in event of a lost dispute)
MC (decision is final, no appeals)
DISCOVER (not sure how likely you are to win with them)

I have a Visa debit card from my TCF bank. I am just confused on how to select to use it. Say I clicked to pay for the item on ebay and then I logged onto paypal, from there I am lost :( anyone care for a step by step from there?

and I take it, this eliminates the act of having to add funds to my account as they just stay in my actual bank account until I pay, correct? That would be nice.

You gotta go Credit Card through PAYPAL. While they are not always on your side, you can cancel the payment through the CC company and get a full refund. Of course you must return the item bought.

Hi Spider: Real simple....when you set up your pay-pal account they're going to ask you for a checking account (to be put on file) and a credit card (also to be puy on file). You can have more than one credit card on file...same with checking. When you go through the checkout process you get the option of either using your credit card or checking account. Now as for that debit card...I would imagine that if you had that on file with them that you could use it much the same way that you use a credit card...just don't go over you limit of funds on deposit. could be wrong though...if I am someone will chime in.

Well, since I am not old enough to own/use a credit card, I just use one of those Visa Buxx cards. I have had much success with it, but obviously it is not as secure as a credit card.
