Pattern prior to SBA...

    I just found out (haha) that there was a pattern Mr. FG created that was rejected in favor of the now infamous SBA design, and SBA's look even less pretty in my eyes now that I've seen what that coin COULD have looked like...

    It was a flowing hair design similar to the early large cents, it was actually quite an attractive coin, but too attractive for the then 1970's Feminazi movement. So it was junked.

    Even the original SBA design was nixed by her closest relative (a niece, I believe) because the original design made SBA look too young and beautiful. (The niece remembered a spinster aunt.)
