Found this Jefferson today, I don't collect errors (yet) but this caught my eye, just wondering if anyone knows the technical term for it and if it's worth keeping? My definition of worth keeping would be anything potentially valued at more than face . Thanks
Potentially valued at more than face? That includes every coin, medal, and token ever created, or to be created. Limiting the field requires a high-power crystal ball, and mine is cracked. :rolling: It appears perfectly round in the picture, which would indicate an off-center strike. A partial collar generally results in distortion of the shape.
Does the reverse show any spread like the obverse? If it does then I would say off center. If it does not then I would say you have a misaligned die. The obverse die being tilted slightly allowing the planchet to flow when struck. As far as value I do not think it is enough for that 63 Stingray, but I would say more than face. I save all the ones I find. Happy hunting, Michael
