    This is the second coin i picked up at club, don't have much back ground on these, haven't seen many posted, but always wanted one..:)

    Parthian Kingdom
    Mithridates ll 123-88 B.C.
    AR drachum
    Ob. cuir. bust left. w/long pointed beard,
    wearing tiara ornamented with star.
    Rev. archer seated on throne, holding bow.
    19mm x 3.50g.

    I believe the spelling is MITHRIDATES.

    As far as the coin type....Oh no you didn't?

    Mithridates is actually a fairly common name, not just in Parthia. The cult of Mithra was an eastern mystic religion preceeding Christianity. Even in the later Roman empire the cult was very popular in the legions. This is why Mithridates name will pop up repeatedly throughout ancient history.

    => I have seen quite a few of these while cruisin' the auction circuit, but I have yet to bid on one (they are very cool and it looks good on you ... congrats my friend)
