Billion Quattrino, Fano mint.

FANVM FORTVNAE on reverse, with St. Peter stg., Papal arms on obverse.

Obv.: Crowned lion rampant left with banner, 1604 in ex.





The rampant lion is the heraldic beast of Bologna





Rev.: BONO/NIA/DOCET/ (Bologna teaches)

Referring to the important cultural role of Bologna, where, in 1088, was established the first University of the world.
