I have around 1,000 (cents) of the 09 rail splitters in bank wrappers ( Harrison and Son? correct me if I'm wrong) and also a unopened $25 box of the 3rd release (forgot what they were called), anyway my question is should I leave these coins in the wrappers?(will the bank wrappers add any premium or only mint wrappers?) or toss them into plastic tubes? 1 more thing: I checked the bottom of the box and it says packaged August 2, 2008, yet it contains 2009 pennies... was that when the box was made or when the pennies were placed in the box? Thank y'all for any input!
Hey Penny Fanatic, that's a lot o' stash you got there. My feeling (and it's only my feeling/opinion) is that these holdings aren't going to appreciate much in the future. The mint is producing huge amounts of these coins and right now they're just languishing in storage somewhere in a "mint" or federal reserve vault. It really doesn't matter what kind of wrapper these coins are contained in. It's not going to add to the value of what you have. As to the "one more thing"? Mystery.........:smile
Yea I'm hesitant to let these go until I find out the mintges on em, and really hesitant to open the 08 box of 09s! Thankyou for your thoughts; beauty is I 'bought' these for face value so no loss!
