Gonna have to start two different threads for this guys. One for paper and one for coin. As many of you may know I started working part time at the local coin shop. Man am I seeing a lot of stuff! I knew my dealer had a lot of connections but it's unbelievable and only my second day. So today a paper dealer from Missouri stops in. Nothing my boss really wanted but he invited me to look and said I could buy at the other guys price. Talking Greensheet here. Well, I really have to exercise restraint as I need to EARN money NOT spend it. I was a good boy but did drool a bit. Let's see about 15 consecutive 1963A CH/GEM CU red seal $2 star notes. Stacks of 1923 "horseblankets", Black Eagles and even a nice Woodchpper. A bunch of 1928 red seal singles. (Those almost did me in - circulated but cheap). Funnybacks, a smattering of nice 5 and 10 Silver Certificates. A nice pile of Confederate notes and finally for RickieB. At least 75 fractionals. Oh yeah, and this was after a bunch of HAWAII overprint and Nationals. I looked, chatted with the guy for a while then went in back and smacked myself in the head with a hammer a few times to settle down. Now this is only day two at the shop so I know I'll see more. I MUST exercise restraint. I need the money in my pocket NOT the safe. OK breath clembo breath. Just had to share it with you guys. Gonna be real interesting! clembo
Clembo.... Wow what an afternoon!! I would go broke in a place like that..LOL Thanks for thinking of me....there are 3 fractionals I am missing from the 4th issue, 1302 or 1303 (have to check inventory), Fr 1279 and Fr 1307...keep me in mind, I could be your first paper sale??? Good luck and keep us posted! RickieB
Oh man - it's going to be hard working in a candy store when you are addicted to candy I'm jealous and I would be broke in a week. You may need a third job to pay for your second job...
Nice second day!! and who said go broke in a week? .. that is showing restraint i would be done by 9 am, and thats starting at 8:30 lol keep us posted on what you see, what you pass up .. and show u spictures of what you scoop up
How long till your will is broken. That would be tough to not buy. Mabey just one bill, what can that hurt, said the lays chip salesman. I am having similar problem at my part-time job, only two fold. I work in a wine shop, so I have to obstain from buying all the star notes that come through the register ( I really had to grit my teeth last weekend, it was a 2003? very crisp $100 star note) and I have to keep from buying another bottle of wine everytime I am in there. Tooo many choices and I want to try them all!!:desk:
How long can I win the battle. Umm...2-1/2 days. I bought a few coins today BUT they will end up for sale as I told the owner. The problem with paper is right now it is NOT in my budget and I'd want to keep it. Simple as that. As for coins - you guys know I love those too but certain series I'm not all that interested in and if I can get a good price I'll buy to sell. So today I bought a nice unc 1960 Franklin and a 1919-S Walker. Both wil be sold. I need to generate income from my income so to speak. Paper will come about eventually. clembo
Honestly never did catch his name. He stopped in as we're fairly close to Chicago and he's going to be at the show.
