Have boxes of pennies that have been stashed away for several years, now that I am going through them noticed all the green oxidation on them, guessing I would say at least 60% of the post 1982 pennies are inflicted with this oxidation. In your opinion do I simply toss them into the return bin or take the time scope them out??? Next question, I have 7 rolls of halves still in the mint wrapper, would these be considered uncirculated ?? Thank you for opinion it is much appreciated.
Welcome to the world of crappy Zincolns. Where are you storing them? Is there a lot of moisture? If so, you should probably address that so the rest of your coins don't end up like the cents. I would only search them for the big known varieties and toss the rest. There is no saving them. As for the halves, yes if they are still in the mint wrapper they would be considered uncirculated.
NO! PLEASE DON'T SEARCH THE PENNIES! We already get plenty of people showing us their pennies because they think they've found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. THEY DON'T NEED ANY MORE ENCOURAGEMENT! Chris
Well down here in the lower part of misery errr rather Mo. there is a constant problem with moister; so I truly appreciate the advice, figured a coin that was nasty was not really worth spending time over would put me miles ahead of the game. Not yet having the experience to remember dates, errors to look for and such can be cut down a lot. Thank you so very much.
If the rolls have the name of a bank or a carrier such as NF String or Wells Fargo, they may not be uncirculated as 3rd party companies roll coins ( circulated and not) for bank. Only if they are in rolls indicating a US mint ( unusual) , they can be either. Jim
OP probably something along the lines of these: https://catalog.usmint.gov/kennedy-...t-18KB.html?cgid=kennedy-half-dollars#start=1
I do know that a person can still buy rolls from the mint for sure; didn't notice the last time I checked has been several months for sure; but at that time bags were still available BUT they were for the halves only, you can pick the mints as in your choice. The rolls I have are from the late 90's and early 2000's. Also know that I truly wish I could afford to purchase several rolls each year; but since my wife passed things have been on the lean side since social security is my only source of income and no place wants to hire a "pre-dead" old man. Sounds gruesome I know but these youngsters in the 60 and 70 group sit around just waiting for the reaper, now that is old... lol My rolls believe it or not came from the bank ! Do thank you for your input, lee
