I was wondering if you guys could tell me what Overton this is. It's an 1830 Small O Variety.

I just got my Overton book a few weeks ago, so this is my first shot at picking an O-Number from a pic.

I spent an hour comparing this coin to the ones in the book and some on-line.

    I want to say O-106a (OBV. 3-s2 / REV. F)

Star 13 points high to back of curl.
Die crack from edge between stars 11 & 12 to curls.

This coin is, in my opinion, an 1830 O-107, R-2. Notice the recutting on the bottom left serif of the one and most importantly the spike on the upper left corner of the shield.

Check the star to dentil positions (S1LE, S7UE, S8UH, and S13B), as well as the T-I position (left side of I centered under T). These help confirm the die marriage as O-107.

I agree with the O-107 . Notice the small spike sticking out of the upper left of the shield . Also star 13 points between 2 dentils . Also the E-D and I-T relationships are correct . Nice Busty .

If you have the Parsley book they always give a couple lines of the best markers . It states for the O-106 that the tops of A-1 and A-2 are nearly filled at their tops . As you can see the tops of the As are all open so it isn't a 106 .
Also the spike coming out of the upper left of the shield points to O-107 .
