In your opinion or with the benefit of experience if you make your own overlays what is the better software options to use, or are the online makers easier to use and generate accurate results
I would think it would be easier and save you a lot of time to just use those available online. When trying to create your own, keep in mind that if you are off by one or more degrees, either CW or CCW when taking the photos, there is a lot of room for error. Just my 2c worth. ~ Chris
I tend to agree with you. I have overlay software but you need to make sure that both images are exactly the same size, both are shot from the same place, direction etc and you spend more time on one coin preparing it than you do looking at it. I have never used an online one so i will have to give one a try, see how accurate they are
I'm not computer savvy. What's the names of some of the apps that allow you to do this? Thanks for any help.
There are many online that you use online, not downloaded onto your hard drive. Just google coin overlays. Otherwise if you have advanced versions of software like photoshop or image enhancement programmes like GIMP for example it is a part of the programme. You can get free downloads but beware they don't carry the full range of options in the menu, only the paid ones do.
