It’s the famous 1858 Half Dime, a Liberty Seated Coin. Variety 2 was resumed but with the lighter weight of Variety 3. A total of 3,500,000 were minted. There are 2 varieties for this date, along with the normal coin, so it’s unknown how many actually are inverted but it is considered scarce. The date clearly shows the lines through the date. The smaller photo shows that but you may have to enlarge it. In hand it’s very obvious.
There's actually 3 varieties for the date as well the O mint. There's the rpm 001 the rpm 002 inverted date and short pole. The short pole is an Abraded die as like the 37 D buffalo missing front leg. @Nathan401 posted a image of a short pole variety last week. The R factor has not been assigned as it that rare. Notice how the pole ends in her 3 fingers the index finger points up.
Thanks, I appreciate that information. I was just using my Red Book but you are more in-depth than the book and that’s a good thing.
