I went to the bank today thinking I was going to order a $1,000 bag of Ikes, and they told me they couldn't specifically order them. I see other people in this forum have had a few scores with Ikes and was wondering where i can order a bag. Is it a specific bank…? PS- I went to Santander and a local credit union this afternoon.
Sorry Weston, but I'm not sure if the banks' coin suppliers still carry large-size dollars. Whatever Ikes people find are what other people cashed in at the bank.
Well, I'm not sure if this means anything but it shows you can order Eisenhower dollars through the Federal Reserve: http://www.frbservices.org/operations/currency/coin_depositing.html
I have talked with tellers in the past who have told me that Ike's aren't even an option on their order lists. Most banks pull coin from a distributor and not the federal reserve. I checked with probably thirty different banks because I had a dealer who would pay me 1.05 per Ike. Never found one that could order. If you do find one, I would have your dump strategy worked out in advance. Good luck!
My bank told me they were legal tender, but no longer able to order, they also told me the same thing on $2 bills.
I'm not worried about getting rid of them once I get them. I can always spend them after I go through them. Hmm, I have no clue where to get them!
