Am I seeing things, or does that look 'cast'?

Or could it just be pitted from having been in the ground sometime in the past?

 

The beauty of opportunity is that new ones come along every day.

 

I would have paid the price just to see if it was real. That's one coin/date I need for my type set, although I would like a much higher grade.

Anyway, the real opportunity lost was in not regularly (as I usually do) checking ebay.ca and ebay.co.uk - not just ebay.com. Some real bargains can be found with "foreigners" not totally familiar with US coins.

 

It sure looks like a problem coin to me. You did good by not winning it.
