    Hi,
I have the opportunity to purchase my first sestertius, and I was looking at this piece. If someone could tell me whether or not the coin's patina is original, and what price would be right.
    Thanks,

I see three colors of "green" on the reverse.

    1. Dark brown-green. Looks like original patina.
    2. Light blue-green at edge and fingerprint (?). Looks like active BD.
    3. Bright emerald green. Either fresh corrosion or wiped-on chemical that is reacting with surface.

I don't like any "patina" with painted on or wiped on patterns.

Let's see what the ancient experts who know these coins say.

I think the patina looks good. Price? Try looking at sold examples on CNG.
