Im sure a few of you know I just came across a bag of world coins. I have a baggie of about 100 1 Norge ore and they range in this bag dates from 52-57 most are vf-xf a few may be better a few may be worse , Are there errors or varieties I should look for?. Would you sell the lot as a whole, Keep the lot, or sell it individually. I am not a world coin collector and I may sell if I can get enough to get my first pre 33 gold coin.
How about you sell some of the neat errors you have posted in the past instead Your BIE Cent is one that I like!
For those not too familiar with Norway's coinage, Norway has done what the USA could be doing, i.e., discontinuing insignificant denominations. When I first went to Norway in 1969, the were using 1, 2, 5, 10, 25 and 50 ore, 1 and 5 kroner. Today all the ore coins are obsolete; in fact, they are not even legal tender. The 1 and 5 kroner were altered in size, and the older ones are no longer legal tender, either. So, Eric, if you had the baggie of 100 1-ore in Norway, you couldn't even get a, well, you couldn't spend them for anything. With today's strong dollar, 100 ore (or 1 krone) is with a whopping 12 cents. Steve
Well I guess its a good thing im not into them for much, I'll hang onto them for now and see if I can get a little out of them in the future if not i'll give them to a YN for he/she to enjoy.
I think they are awesome. I love world coins. The condition is nice too, so you should look them up on NGCs world coin price guide to see if you got any low mintage dates. Most will be common but hopefully the conditions help somewhat. Sell them all together on ebay
