Once again, I'd like to get opinions on this Craigslist ad. I'm trying to expand my knowledge on these types of things so I'm asking for your input on this ad and photos. I'm not interested in buying something like this, I would just like your thoughts on this coin. Thank you.

One thing that confuses me: I'm not sure why there would be 2 different slabbed graded versions of this coin. Is this normal? It can't be the same exact coin in the two different slabs. Slabs are permanently sealed, right?

Ad heading: "Rare coin error 1837/7 with die cracks Bust half dollar - $200"

Ad text: "Die cracks all over the coin how did ANACS miss that and the double 7. Why go to dealers online and pay more for a coin that has graffiti on it. Oh yea and no error and you can't even make an offer. Wait til dealers see this for less this won't be around long"

I think it's 2 different coins. TPG's do not attribute Die Cracks on the field. Only Die Breaks such as CUDs.

The NGC coin says Graffiti but you dont have a picture of the Reverse.

The ANACS states scratched probably due to cleaning but as I stated they not talking about the Die Crack.

ANACS didn't "miss" anything; they just weren't asked to attribute it.

GR-14, R.1. In an ANACS Details slab I wouldn't do $200, but depending on the severity of the damage, it might just be worth that much.

The die cracks leave extruded features on coin. These occurred at strike. Pull the Overton book and pinpoint the variation. Die cracks and clashes were very common back then. I can see MM scratches on face and neck, but I need a close-up of reverse to see if there are more.

Neat coin, cool die cracks. Considering the "problem" notations on the ANACS holder, I don't think it's bad looking for all that. Would be OK in a type set album like a Dansco 7070.

As to the $200 price, I dunno.

Craigslist? I definitely dunno. I've heard horror stories about Craigslist. I have no personal experience there myself, however.
