No idea, but I like the irony of an error star note. I don't normally collect currency, but I'd be glad to have a note like this.
I like it. An error on a replacement note.... That replaced an error. I'm sure some currency guys will chime in later.
That is what you call a scam. Those are produced by buying an uncut sheet and cutting them wrong yourself in order to commit fraud.
Not sure if it's from an uncut sheet or not, however, it's not worth a lot. It's a nice piece to keep though.
"The 2009 $1 H..* run were the first stars printed for use on LEPE, the BEP's new overprinting and inspection equipment. There seem to be an unknown number of cutting errors in the early LEPE printings--it takes a while to get the new technology shaken down so these H..* notes are going to be the place to find this sort of thing." The numbers check out. I was offered 150$ by a fellow collector so I had it checked out by local numismatic and they offered $175, and suggested I have it graded .I will probably keep it for my daughters. Thanks for the input
Are you sure sir star notes are offered as uncut sheets? I hear what you are saying, buying uncut sheets allow nefarious people to create errors. I am simply questioning if uncut sheets of star notes have ever been sold.
There have been uncut star note sheets available before. This one below is listed on Ebay currently. Although whether or not OP's bill is from one or an actual cutting error I don't know. Along the lines of what @silentnviolent was saying though I have seen plenty of supposed errors that people just cut from uncut sheets and claim are errors. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1999-E-Fede...500768?hash=item280cfb8020:g:OfwAAOSwfZ1WXi8K
Yes, uncut sheet of star notes have been sold by the BEP for years. == == == I also have several $2 and $1 four note sheets. Check out the BEP store. http://www.moneyfactorystore.gov/
Not so sure as it looks like the cutting has a problem with the top of another so why not say you got these 2 or see if the serial number off the second one is in line with the other available as an error and if it has the top of a 3rd one Just to say someone is a fraud is pretty harsh...I would like to say all people are honest and know they are not but to just accuse someone without being able to cite that the error was impossible is somewhat unfair let alone they did not offer to sell it to you or anyone else just asking questions we all do that is called learning.....I guessed we also learned today not all people are nice and some can be downright mean and even deflamation of someone's character as for me I have read mostly nice people here other then silentnviolent but I guess people pick the names for a reason and that is why Secret Service and HLS watch them
Joshua, let me suggest you submit the note for grading/certification to PCGS or PMG. They have the facilities and expertise to tell you if the note was cut by the BEP or not. Before submitting it call them and tell them you're submitting the note and need to know IF it is a BEP error or not.
I thought that uncut sheets all had serial numbers starting with a nine? Did I hear that wrong or something?
Listen up nut case I said notes are done like that to defraud newbs all the time. Not that he is or isn't. For all I know he got it as change or bought it as an error or was thinking about buying it. Stopping a swindle before it occurs is priority over your little feel bads. I didn't know if he owned it or not. I don't care if you like it or not. It's a fact that people suck and do that and we need to be on top of it or get sunk. I didn't check the numbers before offering my cautionary input. Cite the error? Search eBay for cutting errors. Not that you could tell the difference but 95% are idiot bait.
It's funny, though, that I didn't see that rationale in your earlier post where you stated flat out that it was a faked error. I'd like to add that I posted actual evidence to back up my claim of its legitimacy. You'll find that I expanded on my evidence in post #20 (below). You posted nothing to back up your claim of it being faked. I am deeply offended by your calling me, and others, a "nut case", also! When you get called out, there's no turning back.
