I have two hastings triplets, currently, a Gem Oro 10X, and another cheaper 10X model. i often find that I need something a but more powerful and this is my new top choice:

    Coddington-14x - ELP-836.00

This one is moderately priced at about 30 bucks, which is less than I paid for my GEM ORO.

I was going to try a 20X loupe, but I'm not sure I need that kind of power.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

10x should suffice in most cases, but if you'd like something more powerful, I don't see why you'd have to go to 20x. I had and long used a 16x for such instances and never felt the need for anything more.

I have a B&L 20x Triplet. It is great to see things you can't see, but the view is very small, and it takes practice to use. But it has been useful to see some RPMs and other things my 10X wasn't quite up to seeing.

Assuming your eyes aren't really bad 20 is really just for varieties and authenticity. Otherwise if you can't see it with a 10 it doesn't really matter

    10x Belomo. Accept no other!

10x is all you need unless you are looking at micro varieties like OMM's / RPM's etc then a 20x is good. Anything more is counterproductive

Agreed. No more than 10x for me. I want to see surfaces and signs of cleaning/ alterations. Beyond that I mostly can rely on my naked eyes. 20/15 with my contacts
