guidelines are guidelines. I've always wondered why PCGS coins grade a bit lower than NGC. Some say (although it may be a gamble) if you have a PCGS MS69 and remove it from the slab and send it to NGC, it may come back a MS70. Yup , that's what some say.
I think that's a wonderful coin. Tons of luster ! Maybe a little light strike around 3 o'clock on the obverse. NOT full head, but good rivets detail. I think it stands a good shot at 65.
Heck NGC might even give it FH , I've got a NGC MS-63-FH 1929-S were the head isn't as nice as yours . rzage
I want to use it in my NGC Registry typeset so it has to be in an NGC or PCGS holder. If it drops back to a 64 I'll have to decide whether to go with that or buy a new one. I've got two other coins in the same situation, one ANACS and the other SEGS. But they are inexpensive enough that I'll just buy a replacement. One's a dime, 1838 Stars/No Drapery in SEGS XF-45. The other is also a dime, 1857 ANACS AU-50. I'll use them to help finance the replacements.
I see it having no trouble for a 65. There isn't hardly a mark on her and the luster is gorgeous. Id send it in and hope for the best. Tom
I'll take it with me to the ANA show in Baltimore the end of the month. Then I can get a quick free opinion and submit it if they think it'll be a 65.
