Looks harshly cleaned to me :( But the bright side, it has really nice feather details on that eagle :D Looking at the hair and crown, I see very little wear, but not enough to make a big deal out of it. Over-all, a very nice coin, low MS or high AU.

I'd need a better photo. It looks harshly cleaned to me and I'd pass on it.

I'd pass, since it is quarter and you want a $1/2

Not bad for a cleaned quarter, probably a AU a net XF expect it to go for around $55-65.

I was not going to bid on it because I felt it had been cleaned. I wanted to get a feeling on the grade. I look at it and would call it a unc to bu, however the photo of the obverse is poor and my guess there are some hairlines on it.

Thanks guys for the quick replies.

the hairlines across the cheek and neck could be from the clear slides in the old albums, this does not necessarily lower the grade. It has probably been dipped, it is very bright. Au or MS? I can't tell from the pictures. I would pass too, there are bound to be more 'original' examples around.
