I got 2 Himera Hemilitrons from a friend of mine on facebook who was off loading his Greeks in favor of another collecting area. I had no intention of purchasing more coins in 2015, but hey, here we are. The Himera Hemilitrons have been on my list to buy for a couple of years now, but have been falling on the want list as of late.

Himera has a fascinating story, originally a Greek colony on the Northern coast of Sicily founded in the 7th century BC. Briefly on the History, Himera was destroyed by Carthage in BC 407 and the inhabitants were relocated to a new city near the original site. These are small coins and quite old for a bronze.

I will be keeping one and off loading the other.

Both have their pros and cons. Which one are you keeping?

Initially I thought it was going to be easy, I was going to keep number 1 but now I am leaning towards number 2. Number 2 has a bit more detail but number one has a gorgeous patina.

Tough call. Not sure which one I'd keep.

I like #2. The portrait is nicer and the reverse is centered better.

If only the portrait of #2 was on #1. In this instance, I think the answer is clear - you're going to have to keep both.

I love my little $6 bronze from Himera.

Give number 2 some love, then keep it.

Yeah, I'd go with the second one really like the detail on that one. ;)

At first glance I would have said #1. But after seeing them both more closely I would definitely keep # 2

#2 for me, or sell both and buy #3 when you find one where you don't need to think twice.
