    Hey Guys
Lately I've been getting older bills....they haven't been too old so I have been spending them but yesterday I got a 1981 $20 bill....its circulated but not too bad...would this have any value?...or should I go ahead and spend it too ;)

    Thanks

I would spend it. Take it to your local convenience store and let some half wit think it is very very rare and you will part with it for $25 worth of merchandise.

Well, I try to keep as many of the old style bills as possible for two reasons:
They look cool and that the Feds destroy all the old-styles they can get their hands on! I posted a thread in July or August 2005 asking about a 1981 $50--I still have it, but it's only worth $50. Your $20 is $20 unless in like High UNC and a star or something.... I'd like to find an old-style $20. I intend on going to the bank this week; I'll ask if they have and old $20.

I found an old $10 bill about a year ago from 1988.
Pretty crappy shape with lots of folds, not at all stiff, but no tears (Thumbs up).
Oh well, just though I'd share.

Crispy1995 is correct , the Feds destroy all of these bills (the older ones) not to be seen ever again . If you can afford to keep these older bills , please do so because as our coins they will get harder and harder to find as time goes on ! If they do not interest you , you can join www.wheresgeorge.com and some of those guys in the bill collecting forum like to buy and trade bills alot . You probably won't get a whole lot more than $20 out of it but you never know , they have gone for more than face before . It just keeps older bills from being destroyed as some of us collect other things than our coins . I am/was not trying to promote the above website , as I just use it for trading purposes only .

i found a extremely nice crispy 1985 single dollar yesterday... it was only a dollar so i just put in a sleeve. i am sure nothing will come of it.. but over 20 years for paper money is a LONG time.

    Yay! I was right!
I got a 1993 $20 bill today from my bank. Not too impressive to the
    collector-- it is to me!
Very interesting how the teller went through packs and packs of 20's...
Then another teller came up and said, "Watcha guys doing?"
I told her about the $20 and she said, "We don't get them very often any more, but I a few in my drawer..."

i would say the best i've seen so far is my 1934 $20 in circulation. The coloring was a bit off... but still nice and crisp!!!
