I got this a couple of weekends ago for about a dollar. I noticed it had some dark splotches on it and green areas around Lincoln's face and various parts of the coin. My question is what could this? I mean, if this was on the coin prior to grading, I would think the grade would be lower. I've read where NTC is accepting grades prior to their change and offering to regrade them. If that's something I would want to do, would the current condition being a lower grade, even if there is no evidence of tampering with the holder?

For a dollar, I guess I did alright. Could of bought a can coke for less but have nothing to show for it.
could've bought 10,000 cans of cokes and had nothing to show for it too. Doesn't really change anything, a dollar is a dollar.
I bought that from a guy for a dollar. I don't know if it was proper sealed and moisture got in and did that.
Okay... while this certainly isn't meant as a defense of NTC, let's take a look at the overall condition of the holder. See anything that might indicate that the coin has resided in less than idea conditions since being encapsulated? Perhaps this may be, at least in part, the cause of at least some of the presently obvious issues? While the coin was most likely never quite what the label claims, it's only right and fair to take all visible evidence into consideration before passing judgement. Even coins residing in PCGS, NGC, or whatever holder, particularly copper, can easily change when kept improperly stored and/or stored in certain environs.
