I have a "fat" NGC holder that has a certification number that starts with 1984? I hope it's not an outlandish question to ask: Was it graded in 1984?? Or just coincidence? What do you guys think? IMG_2488.JPG IMG_2489.JPG

I’m pretty sure NGC was founded in 1987.

The digits to the left of the dash represent the submission form number. The digits to the right of the dash represent the line item of the submission.

Aren't there some of the digits that pertain to the coin series too?

PCGS does that where you can see them in the cert number on the label. NGC keeps those internal and the certs are just the submission number and what coin in the submission it was

No! Not for NGC. That only applies to PCGS.
