I have a very nice '39 Proof Merc Dime in an old PCGS holder, PF66. I was thinking of sending it in to NGC for a re-grade. Any tips? Not sure if I will remove it from the PCGS slab first.
I sure wouldn't remove it. Not sure I'd submit for regrade either - do you think it will upgrade ? Or do you just want it in an NGC slab ? Whatever the reason, if you are looking for an upgrade, make sure you stipulate to cross at PF67 or better only !! That way if they think the coin won't upgrade, they'll just return it to you in the PCGS slab. If you just want it in an NGC holder - stipulate to cross at PF66 or better only !!
