Old forgery? English Hammered.

My friend was given this coin. It looks like an old noble (which were gold), but it is also obviously made of silver.


Any ideas?

All Noble and Half-Noble were gold I thought..we need PaddyB in here.

 

To my knowledge, all Nobles and Half-Nobles were gold.

That would mean that this is a counterfeit.
