Here is an old fashioned grade guess test. The coin is an 1878-S Morgan Dollar. What grade do you think it earned or what grade would you assign it? Take Care Bone
I'd say a 63, but it might go down to a 62, I simply can't tell about a couple of spots in the picture.
Its graded by ANACS....NGC slabs are larger. And I grade it AU55---its an S mint coin and should have a strong strike but I see some flat or weakness so I don't think its MS. Speedy
Obverse- hair looks clean and sharp, liberty full has what looks like mint luster--reverse breast feathers look sharp and head feathers also are clear wing tips look good , the field on both obverse and reverse will bring it down a little I say it will grade ms-62.
The reverse looks pretty good , maybe a little wear on the breast , hard to tell from the photo. The obverse looks a little nicked up but I think she still grades out at MS62.
Sorry so quick with the grade. Gotta head to church kinda early tonight with stuff to send to another church in St Louis for storm relief. The MS-62, etc., crowd was spot-on. Take Care Bone
