No need to tell his story - everybody, or most everybody knows who he was. A colorful king, but also a dangerous man to be married to as two of his 6 wives could tell! Anyway, I have been wanting one of his posthumous issue groats, showing the king as he looked when he was well past his prime. It was actually minted during the short reign of his young son, Edward VI. This one came today. Nice enough portrait with some planchet imperfections - but they are difficult (read expensive) to get I'm much better shape. I got this one for my son who shares my passion for 16th century European coinage and history. It is scarcer to find than the more available groat showing the king in younger years, with the usual profile portrait.
