Literally. I added a new Phoenix Roman coin to my collection (it only has a small bird that represents a Phoenix, but still, it has a phoenix, and I really like the coin). Let me know what you guys think of it! Here's the sellers pic: How much would you value it at? I think it's a beautiful coin, but that's me, lol. Seller's attribution: Constantius II AE3 "Fel Temp Seacruise" Constantius II AD 324-361 AE3 "These are the good times" Obv: DN CONSTAN-TIVS PF AVG - Diademed bust right, draped and cuirassed Rev: FEL TEMP REPARATIO ? Emperor Standing left, head turned right in a galley; Phoenix on a globe in right hand and holding labarum in left hand; Victory at the tiller of the galley right. Exe: BSISC (dot) Siscia mint AD 348-350 = RIC VIII, 197, page 364 /2.60g. Thanks for looking. :kewl: Phoenix
Thank you snaz!! Thanks man. Hey man, thanks for the comment! This is my second Roman Phoenix, now to find some others when I gain a little more cash (the last of my cash is going towards a 12-S lincoln in XF). I paid $19 total ($15 for the coin, and $4 shipping, so I think I did fair? I think it's a beautiful coin, and it'll fit nice into both my sets. ) That's not my attribution, lol. Why's it cheesy though? Thank you Stain, I'm looking forward to it getting here. :kewl: Would you guys put it at XF? Or is it just a really nice VF? I'm still learning on grading these. Phoenix
If you wanted to split hairs, probably XF. But the fields are pretty rough, so I wouldn't say higher than F.
Ahh, okay. I didn't know the fields effected the grade, lol. Do you think the coin has nice eye appeal? Just asking for your opinion on it if you don't mind? Phoenix
Phoenix, In answer to your question, the fields are a bit rough for my taste. However, it does have a nice looking patina on it, so that's a plus. It also has nice detail. Nice pick up and I'm glad you're getting interested in ancients!
