Okay, I Think I've Solved My Imaging Problem

    As I indicated in the "What am I doing wrong in photographing my coins?" thread, I was having difficulty imaging a VF-30 1806 Half Cent.
    (I am not the OP for that thread.)
    I thought it was probably my lighting, and it was.
    I checked Goodman's book and he indicated that the lighting should be as close to vertical as you can get.
    So I modified my setup.
    Yep, that improved my results considerably.
    It's probably not ideal yet, but at least you can see the details that were previously getting washed out.

    Here's my results (1806 Half Cent, Small 6, No Stems, PCGS VF-30) C-1, R-1:
